Duplex Steel
Duplex Steel is a unique stainless steel alloy combining the properties of austenitic and ferritic stainless steels, offering high strength, excellent corrosion resistance, and superior durability. It typically contains equal parts of austenite and ferrite phases, with alloying elements like chromium (20-28%), nickel (1.5-8%), and molybdenum (up to 5%). Duplex steel is known for its exceptional resistance to stress corrosion cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion, especially in harsh environments. Commonly used grades include 2205 and 2507, widely utilized in industries such as oil and gas, chemical processing, marine applications, and construction. Its high strength-to-weight ratio and cost-effectiveness make it a preferred material for demanding applications.
